About the Parish Retreat |
Do you want to have a closer, more personal relationship with God, but aren't sure if this is possible, or how to do it? Do you wish your faith were stronger, and that you always felt a close connection with God? Do you wish you could really live your Catholic faith? Come to a Parish Retreat! The Retreat was born of the need of Catholics and others to close the gap that they often felt between God and themselves. They wanted that closeness to God - the loving, fulfilling union, that they may have only felt during special moments, such as at Mass or after a confession, to be with them always. God loves you. Parish Retreats show us how to have a close, personal, loving, and permanent relationship with God. He can be with us, by our side every day, teaching us how to truly love the people in our lives and to resolve burdens and feelings that separate us from Him. Through the Parish Retreat, you can renew an inner connection with the Lord. He can be with you, strengthening and enriching your life.

How Do Parish
|
The Parish Retreat starts on Friday
night at St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m., and goes until 9:00 p.m. On Saturday,
the Retreat continues from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the latest. On Sunday
the Retreat concludes with an all-day session. The Retreat is not a sleepover,
so you go home each night. Free babysitting and transportation (for those
without their own transportation) are provided, as well as snacks throughout
the weekend. A delicious candlelight catered dinner is served to you on
Sunday evening. During breaks and in discussions, you have the opportunity
to socialize and share the fellowship of your fellow retreatants. A priest
from St. Mary's parish leads each Retreat. You'll hear talks on spiritual themes given by the priest and by devoted lay people, part of the "retreat team" who have prepared their talks under the priest's guidance. There are meetings in small groups with other members of the team and your fellow retreatants to talk over the challenges and difficulties that Catholics and others most often encounter in living their faith. The Parish Retreat places special emphasis on developing a loving, direct and personal relationship with the Lord, one that is with you every day. Time for meditation, Mass, and confession is provided, with emphasis on reconciliation and the renewal of faith, no matter what one's background is. Each Retreat can be a mix of Catholics from a wide variety of parishes, plus people who are who are studying to join the faith, and people of other faiths and backgrounds. All people are welcome! |
